It's also found in some bitter alcoholic beverages and, to a small extent, in flour confectionery. The bitter taste of quinine is what makes it a key ingredient in tonic water. Quinine is used in some fragrances as a denaturant, to make alcoholic products unpalatable, and also to enhance the smell of some products and perfume the skin. Quinine is also found in various hair care products, including shampoos and conditioners, particularly those designed to strengthen hair and prevent hair loss.
